BMO Private Equity Trust Plc adopts a diverse investment strategy, encompassing secondary indirect holdings, direct equity investments, and allocations to other funds. Through its fund-of-funds approach, it channels capital into a variety of structures, including private equity, offshore, buyout, venture, and mezzanine funds, alongside investment trusts. For its direct investments, the trust targets companies at different stages of development, from early, mid, and late-stage venture capital, to middle-market, later-stage, and mature businesses, as well as mezzanine and buyout opportunities. While pursuing a global mandate, the fund demonstrates a particular focus on mid-market companies within the United Kingdom and Continental Europe, and also seeks exposure to emerging markets and mid-cap companies. The trust operates under strict investment parameters: at the time of commitment, no more than 15% of its total assets may be in UK-listed investment companies, and an equal cap of 15% applies to non-UK listed investment companies. Direct private equity co-investments are limited to 33% of total assets, and a maximum of 10% of its overall assets can be deployed outside of the United States, the United Kingdom, and Continental Europe.
