Applied Materials delivers record quarter and stronger-than-expected outlook

Applied Materials Inc (NASDAQ:AMAT, XETRA:AP2) shares rose about 4% in after-hours trading on Thursday after the semiconductor equipment maker reported stronger-than-expected fiscal second quarter results and issued upbeat guidance, supported by continued demand tied to artificial intelligence investments. The company posted record revenue of $7.91 billion for the quarter ended April 26, up 11% from a year earlier and above analyst expectations of $7.69 billion.
